Setup Wizard

The Setup Wizard takes you from a model to a ready-to-cast plan in eight short steps. Click the Start here card at the top of the Viewer & tree sidebar to begin.

Step 2 of the wizard: choosing an investment powder

The steps

  1. Pattern material: wax, or which castable resin you print with. This sets the spacing between pieces (3 mm for wax, 5 mm for resin) and the burnout cycles on offer.
  2. Investment: the powder you'll use. The list covers 9 makers, each with their published data.
  3. Burnout cycle: the maker's cycle for your investment and pattern.
  4. Flask: a size, or Auto to pick the smallest flask that fits, and perforated or solid.
  5. Metal: the alloy you're casting.
  6. Casting method: centrifugal, vacuum, or tilt and induction.
  7. Parts and quantities: your model files and how many of each.
  8. Ready to generate: a summary of every choice, with a Change button beside each.

Click Generate and the app builds the sprued tree and sets up the Investing & burnout page to match.

The last step: a summary of every choice before generating

Changing your mind

  • Back goes to the previous step without losing anything.
  • Cancel closes the wizard and puts every setting back the way it was.
  • Skip, I'll set up by hand closes the wizard so you can use the sidebar instead.

Everything the wizard sets can be changed afterwards in the sidebar or on the other pages. Run the wizard again at any time to start fresh.
